From serving on our unique Board of Directors and Friends of Rocking Horse Board, to joining our fun and fabulous Auxiliary, to shaking our hands as a valued Business Partner, and to honoring the memory of Sara Landess by joining her special circle, our supporters give us the strength in numbers we need to forge ahead on our mission to raise healthy families in a caring community.
SPRINGFIELD NOON LIONS CLUB DONATES $54,000 FOR OPTICAL CARE
With a long history of supporting worthy causes in Springfield, the Noon Lions Club began its mission at the Shawnee Hotel on August 5th 1920. Over the years the club worked to raise funds to help the less fortunate and in 1950 began selling its famous $3 per dozen roses to benefit the community. In August of 2008, the club disbanded and board members researched entities in Clark County with hopes of donating their remaining funds to an organization that would keep alive their tradition of providing children with eyecare and eyeglasses. After several meetings with Rocking Horse, the Noon Lions Club agreed to donate $54,000 to the Rocking Horse Vision Assistance program for children. The program works collaboratively with several local optometrists providing vision screening and eye glasses to children in need.
